Bermuda

Bermuda is our vision for decentralized archives for community media. It is in the idea stage and not yet in practice. Feel free to reach out to us.

The internet offers many ways to share and publish media, documents and other resource. Their long-term preservation and accessibility, however, is not easily guaranteed.

Usually, media is published on proprietary plattforms - which makes their future accessibility dependent on the platform's survival, business interest and open access policy.

Hosting a website you own is the common alternative. While this works well in many cases, especially for temporary projects like conferences, short-timed initiatives or working groups it happens frequently that after a certain while, a website and all hosted content goes offline again. Even big projects and online libraries fall under this fate, e.g. in case funding ends.

An autonomous society needs tools to not only publish content freely but also preserve and keep it accessible for the long term.
